HEAR FROM OUR CLIENTS
I am home and healing well so far. I was actually just thinking of you all because there have been several times so far that I could tell the pre-op FitRX work really helped: When I first tried to pull myself up on the walker to the non-surgical leg, it happened easier than expected because my abs were strong! And a lot of the post-op stretching, especially in the quads, has been less painful because the muscles were in pretty good shape to start with! So, thank you and Chad and everyone who helped me prep for the surgery! I will be doing at home PT for the next two weeks. On the 13th, I have my post-op dr appt. I then have at least 2 weeks of PT at Advantage, which is close to my house and in-network for my insurance. At the rate I am going now, I do expect to be able to come back to a modified FitRX training in September. I'll be in touch as time gets closer! Thanks again for everything!
ShellyI enjoyed the class. I have a job that requires me to sit most of the day which causes my hip flexors to be tight. The stretching class was great to help me with this issue. I felt I had only been in class 30 minutes when the class ended. It was a good class for me.
VickieThe class was very good, and the teacher was very informative and helped describe our anatomy and how the exercises helped.
ShawnI have attended classes at BDI since its founding. These classes have helped me move freely and without pain throughout the years. In recent years I have concentrated on Pilates and Ballet Fundamentals classes. The Barre class introduced by Grace this year has been a wonderful addition to the BDI curriculum. IN addition to educating non-dancers about ballet, the class builds strength and aerobic capacity. It's fun!
Mary Ann NYou don't know how much I wanted to dodge the work out time tonight. Knowing you check-in kept my car pointed to BDI even in the traffic. Thanks. I feel better after getting the workout in.
KathyI lay in the knocking, banging MRI tube and thought – this is why I do it. This is why I force time for Balance Class. This is why I work with Barbara. This is why I try. Because nobody escapes that eventual trip to the ER. Nobody is immune to what life hands you. And now I have the core strength and the body knowledge to endure – and hopefully heal – from whatever this is. And heal I did! Thank you, Barbara, and thank you, Body Dynamics!
Pru BI’m not an athlete; not a dancer. I’m an overweight, 56-year-old woman who sits at a desk all day. I started working with Barbara at Body Dynamics because I was ashamed of my limited cardio endurance. She was correcting my alignment and strengthening my core when I was suddenly stricken with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a nerve condition that felt like my feet were asleep – all the way up to my ribs. I was in the hospital for six days being treated; the physical therapist in the hospital was astonished that this fat old lady had enough core strength to walk unaided even though my legs were entirely numb. They moved me into restorative exercises that I rapidly outgrew because Barbara had prepared my body to endure whatever life threw at me. The neurologist said that GBS can take up to a year to resolve but that I’d progress much faster than that; she’d seen how quickly I was able to return to independence and balance. I took the credit, of course, but really my secret weapon was that Barbara had worked with me before I got sick. Now I’m almost back to normal, I’m back to working with Barbara and going to her balance class, and I’m not going to stop. I’ll never look like a waifish twenty-year-old, but sticking with Barbara means that as I age, I’m going to resist losing the health I’ve gained. I’m proud, I’m strong, and I’m grateful I found Barbara and Body Dynamics!
Pru BAs promised, I wanted to also tell you how much the BDI classes - particularly your Better Balance class and pilates, have helped me as I've dealt with a broken ankle, surgery, and recovery. As I was having to navigate airports and other crowds on crutches while in a cast on one (non-weight-bearing) leg, the exercises we've done in balance class to complete/repeat unusual movements while navigating in a crowd were amazingly helpful. Balance exercises and one-legged squats helped me to engage the right muscle groups while needing to stay off my right foot/ankle and to do things like pick up dropped items, reach for things, or even just balance while doing something like washing my hands!
Amy BergnerDear Jen, I have been wanting to share with you how very much I value the "zoom" BDI classes. Not that they fully replace the in-person classes, but they are a great way for me to enjoy exercising on a daily basis. Zoom offerings have allowed me to sample classes that previously might have been "out of range" timewise or distance-wise for me. So, thank you! I am totally engaged in the pilates classes taught by Lisa and Gayle. I love Chip's classes too. Who doesn't? Meanwhile, I am also taking two aerobic classes, which alert me to how much I need them. And, of course, the "GTS" classes are foundational ones for me. The "learning component" in the BDI classes continues to satisfy and motivate.. Tai Chi is opening a new window for me to explore another way of movement. I like the idea of coupling movement and meditation. Lots to learn.going forward. Again, thank you, and thanks to your colleagues.
Lois KhairallahBarb, I have enjoyed working virtually with you and look forward to continuing with this. This works well for me. I feel safer being in my own home currently. Plus, I do not have to wear a mask! My workouts are good and I feel that I am working really hard. It's great having someone watch and see and correct me as I work out at home. Thank you for this option.
