If you spend a lot of time working at a computer or in a seated position with poor posture, you have likely experienced shoulder pain and stiffness.

While it may seem impossible to avoid spending time hunched over a screen in 2022, it’s absolutely possible to prevent shoulder pain and decrease stiffness to improve quality of life!

Why do we experience discomfort in the first place? In short, sitting still for a long time is bad for your body. Prolonged static positions, in general, but especially in awkward or poor postures place a certain kind of demand on our muscles and joints that can eventually lead to stiffness and pain. Therefore, it’s key to take frequent breaks to stretch and move around.

Our staff physical therapist, Matt, walks you through a few exercises using minimal or no equipment. By adding these easy stretches into your everyday routine, you can help prevent pain and stiffness. Take breaks from your workday to stretch or incorporate them into your workouts!
