What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback: a non-drug, reward-based training system for your brain.
The brain needs healthy fast-moving and slow-moving brainwave activity to function at its best. Neurofeedback, a form of biofeedback, works to change the electrical activity of your brain. It’s non-invasive and can improve the source of your unwanted symptoms from poor sleep to pain.
Neurofeedback is often used in conjunction with counseling which is what we do here at BDI. Both can be a great compliment to your physical therapy, fitness training program or massage sessions.
An overactive Sympathetic Nervous System also referred to as Sympathetic Nervous System Overdrive can impact your progress in physical therapy, fitness and massage.
- Threat response is activated in the brain
- Pain is triggered frequently
- System is not able to rest
- Inhibits muscle growth
- Inhibits learning new movements
- Decreases rate of healing
How can Counseling and Neurobiofeedback help?
- Provides an opportunity to learn about the source and impact of stressors
- Increases flexibility and resilience with both physical and emotional challenges
- Creates an opportunity for the parasympathetic nervous system to do it’s job
