Injury Prevention for Dancers: The information and movements you need to move happy and healthy
This seminar will provide information on injury prevention in dancers. We will discuss training factors like cardiovascular health, stretching, hydration, and periodization, as well as accommodations for training at home. The physical therapist will review and demonstrate the top exercises prescribed by BDI’s performing arts medicine team. These exercises emphasize the motor control needed to build strength, endurance, and power in dance. Think of this series as a dancer “pre-barre” to ensure appropriate muscle recruitment and patterning from the start. The physical therapist will end with the information a dancer needs to determine if they have an injury that requires attention.
